#BLENDER AVASTAR BENTO RIGGING HOW TO#
I'll be using a number of programs to get the desired effect, and I'm pretty sure most of what I'm doing can be done in just one program, but this is the only way I know how to do it and it seems to be working for me so far >_>. The goal of this class/Tutorial is give you a better understanding of Mesh in Second life and allow you to quickly Rig and even create Mesh for second life.
But just select everything and export it as dae/collada.Okay So. You do not need Avastar for this to work and, frankly, you may wish to disable it before starting this tutorial, and start with a fresh mesh kit without Avastar enabled.Īfter this conversion process you can use the kit in Blender, without avastar, or I guess you can try converting it to Avastar if you want more pain. We'll start in Blender and export the the entire scene as a collada file, using Blender's dae exporter. Many of you don't even know what I mean by "bone scale" and it's a "secret" kept from you, hidden from your eyes, and is the reason you have vertex vomit when you upload a skinned mesh to SL and when you try to use an exported dae file in another application from Avastar. I'll show you how to use that to convert the kit with a proper rotation for Second Life(r) and bone scale. All of the weight data is saved perfectly, inside the resulting UVW map channels and vertex colors of that new object.
#BLENDER AVASTAR BENTO RIGGING SKIN#
The tool for saving weight data in 3ds Max, from, a mesh, is under the SkinUtilities "Extract skin data to mesh". In this video I'm using 3ds max but I'm sure there's a way to do the same thing in Maya and many others. But here's an option for you, in case you do have a kit that comes as Avastar only, and you want to use it in some other 3d application. For kits that are specifically made with Avastar originally then there's probably no problem but some are haphazardly converted.
Avastar is a tool and if you use it wrong it'll break you. I don't have a fix for that except to say "don't do it". I'm guessing that most of the problems are because they are attempting to convert that kit to Avastar. I see some people having problems with mesh body kits in Blender with Avastar. In this video I'll convert a mesh body kit made specifically for Avastar so that it works in other applications.
